Wife and I had a 2002 for a while, was a great little SUV. They have their problem areas though.

can you take a few pics of the rockers for my own edification? Just curious as to where they rot from. Thanks!

It's not too late to just make it lighter, and use the money to cage it for lemons.

I however, fully support parting that thing out and getting an actual nice car.

While you're at it, find someone to convince the US that we need stricter inspection checks. I've seen cars at my old college that didn't have rocker panels anymore. Straight up gone, rusted away.

I saw it from on the inside on a hoist, and trying to pull that plastic trim off is a pain in the butt.

I have to agree, it drove fine, and I loved it. except everything was seized up and the rockers were rotted away badly.

Does it only need rockers? Any shop that does sheetmetal can make you up a set they go for like $60-75 a set here.Im sure you must know someone with a welder?

Are you going to part it out before scrapping it? Why not just sell it and let it be somebody else's problem.

I'm willing to take it apart, and I feel that I will get a profit from the parts.

I was discussing this with a friend a while back who had a nice looking, non-riced, CRX, which wouldn't pass inspections. He ended up cleaning the engine bay with a tooth brush and selling it to another enthusiast who understood the problems.

In the end, you'll spend a lot of time at he post office and on e-bay. And there will be this disintregrating carcass on your driveway, which at some point, people will object to. In the end you will have to pay someone to tow it to a scrapyard, voiding the scrap value.

You may get more money out of parting it out, it will just take time, and be more of a hassle. But also more fun as you can take a car apart which you will never ever have to put together again!
